Clinical Notes & Warnings
- Minimum target MAP in sepsis is 65 mmHg (Surviving Sepsis Campaign).
- Chronically hypertensive patients may need higher MAP (70-80 mmHg).
- MAP does not reflect all organ perfusion equally.
- Stroke patients often have individualized blood pressure targets.
MAP approximates the average pressure in the arteries during one cardiac cycle. Normal range is 70-100 mmHg.
