Clinical Notes & Warnings

qSOFA >=2 suggests increased risk but should not replace clinical judgment.
Sensitivity is lower than SIRS criteria; high specificity for poor outcomes.
For suspected infection OUTSIDE the ICU. Use full SOFA in ICU.
Does not define sepsis (Sepsis-3: qSOFA + organ dysfunction via SOFA).

Sepsis-3 (2016) redefined sepsis as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated host response to infection (SOFA >=2). qSOFA is a quick screening tool.
