The patient's wife reported observing an episode of aberrant behavior at home, with the patient aimlessly wandering around the house and expressing confusion about his location. His speech became incomprehensible, and he displayed non-purposeful movements with his arms. Additionally, the patient reported experiencing blurry vision. Intriguingly, his wife noted his apparent awareness of his nonsensical speech. The patient has a history of diabetes mellitus, specifically type 2, and he is currently on Toujeo Insulin Glargine pen. Recently, his blood sugar level was reported to be critically low at 38 mg/dL. The diagnosis points to a severe hypoglycemic episode, and the recommended management involves immediate treatment to raise his blood sugar levels, a review of his insulin regimen, and patient education on recognizing the signs of hypoglycemia. Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor his condition and provide ongoing support.
