Bone age assessment methodology
Skeletal maturity age estimated from radiograph
⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Requires interpretation of left hand/wrist radiograph by trained clinician
- Greulich-Pyle method has inter-observer variability of approximately 6 months
- Atlas norms are based on specific populations and may not generalize to all ethnic groups
- This calculator is a clinical decision support tool, not a substitute for radiologist interpretation
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
The TW methods involve scoring 20 individual bones (TW2) or 13 bones (TW3) and using lookup tables. Full implementation requires embedding atlas images or using trained AI models.
