Height Velocity Calculator
Calculates annual height velocity (cm/year) from two measurements and compares to age- and sex-specific reference ranges.
Earlier height measurement
Date in format YYYY-MM-DD
Later height measurement
Date in format YYYY-MM-DD
Sex for reference comparison
Age at the time of second measurement for reference lookup
⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Minimum reliable interval between measurements is 6 months; 12 months preferred
- Measurements must be taken with same technique and ideally same equipment
- Pubertal timing affects velocity significantly
- Seasonal variation in growth may affect short-interval measurements
- Height velocity references vary by pubertal onset timing (early, average, late)
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
Normal prepubertal velocity: ~5-6 cm/year. Peak height velocity occurs at Tanner 2-3 in girls (~11-12 years) and Tanner 3-4 in boys (~13-14 years).
