⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications

  • Overuse of SABA (>2 days/week for symptom control) indicates poor asthma control
  • Tremor and tachycardia are common side effects
  • Hypokalemia may occur with frequent use
  • Use spacer with MDI in young children
  • Nebulizer therapy during acute exacerbation may be continuous in severe cases

ℹ️ Clinical Notes

Nebulizer solution: 0.5% (5 mg/mL) or 0.63 mg/3mL, 1.25 mg/3mL, 2.5 mg/3mL unit doses. MDI: 90 mcg/puff. Levalbuterol (Xopenex) is the R-enantiomer with potentially fewer side effects.
