⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications

  • High-dose (80-90 mg/kg/day) recommended by AAP for AOM to cover intermediate-resistant S. pneumoniae
  • Rash may occur, especially with viral infections (EBV)
  • Cross-allergy with cephalosporins is approximately 5-10%
  • For children with true penicillin allergy, use macrolides or clindamycin
  • Do NOT use for children under 1 month unless directed by physician

Suspension concentrations: 125mg/5mL, 200mg/5mL, 250mg/5mL, 400mg/5mL. Duration: AOM 5-10 days (shorter for older children with mild disease), strep pharyngitis 10 days.
