⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known QT prolongation or history of arrhythmias
- May cause GI upset, diarrhea; less than erythromycin
- Suspension has better bioavailability than capsules in children
- Not first-line for AOM (reserved for penicillin-allergic patients or failed amoxicillin)
- For pertussis, treat within 3 weeks of cough onset for microbiological clearance
- May prolong QTc; avoid with other QT-prolonging drugs
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
Suspension: 100mg/5mL, 200mg/5mL. Can be taken with or without food. Once-daily dosing improves adherence. For pertussis prophylaxis: same dose as treatment.
