⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications

  • Only ICS with FDA approval for children <4 years (nebulizer suspension)
  • Monitor growth velocity; ICS may reduce growth by approximately 0.5-1 cm/year initially
  • Use spacer with MDI; wash face after nebulizer use to prevent skin effects
  • Rinse mouth after each use to prevent oral candidiasis
  • Not for acute bronchospasm - use SABA for rescue
  • Systemic effects possible at high doses

ℹ️ Clinical Notes

Nebulizer suspension: 0.25 mg/2mL, 0.5 mg/2mL. MDI: 90 mcg/puff (Pulmicort Flexhaler: 90 mcg/inhalation). Can be mixed with albuterol in same nebulizer.
