⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Cross-allergy with penicillins approximately 5-10%
- Can cause GI upset, diarrhea
- For strep pharyngitis, 10-day course required
- High-dose oral therapy can substitute for IV antibiotics in moderate cellulitis
- Less effective against H. influenzae than second/third-generation cephalosporins
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
Suspension: 125mg/5mL and 250mg/5mL. Capsules: 250 mg, 500 mg. Can be taken with food to reduce GI upset. First-line for uncomplicated skin infections in children.
