⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications

  • Monitor growth velocity; all ICS may reduce growth slightly in first year
  • Rinse mouth after each use to prevent oral candidiasis
  • Use spacer with MDI in all children
  • Systemic effects are minimal at low-medium doses
  • Not for acute bronchospasm - use SABA for rescue
  • For children <4 years, budesonide nebulizer suspension is preferred ICS

ℹ️ Clinical Notes

Flovent HFA: 44 mcg, 110 mcg, 220 mcg per inhalation. Diskus: 50 mcg, 100 mcg, 250 mcg per blister. Flonase nasal spray: 50 mcg per spray. Low bioavailability minimizes systemic effects.
