⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Monitor electrolytes (K+, Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+) regularly
- Hypokalemia is common and may require supplementation
- Ototoxicity reported with rapid IV push or high doses - infuse over 15-20 minutes
- May exacerbate gout, hyperglycemia, and dehydration
- Nephrocalcinosis/nephrolithiasis with long-term use in preterm infants
- Drug interactions: increased toxicity with aminoglycosides, digoxin, lithium
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
Oral solution: 10mg/mL, 8mg/mL. Tablets: 20 mg, 40 mg, 80 mg. IV: 10mg/mL. Bioavailability approximately 50% (oral). PO to IV conversion is approximately 2:1.
