⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- Do not use for >10 days to prevent resistance development
- Local irritation and burning may occur
- Contraindicated if hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol (ointment base)
- Not for ophthalmic use
- Nasal formulation is different from topical ointment - do not substitute
- For MRSA decolonization, combine with chlorhexidine body washes
ℹ️ Clinical Notes
Topical ointment: 2% (22 g tube). Nasal ointment: 2% (1 g single-use tubes). Cream: 2%. Effective against Gram-positive bacteria including MRSA. Low resistance rates when used appropriately.
