Salmeterol Pediatric Dosing
Long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) dosing for asthma maintenance in children.

Clinical indication
⚠️ Warnings & Contraindications
- BLACK BOX WARNING: LABA monotherapy increases risk of asthma-related death
- Must ALWAYS be used with inhaled corticosteroid (fixed-dose combination preferred: Advair, AirDuo)
- Not for acute bronchospasm - use SABA for rescue
- FDA warns against use in patients whose asthma is adequately controlled on low-medium dose ICS alone
- Slower onset (30-60 minutes) than SABA - not for acute symptoms
- Monitor for tremor, tachycardia, and hypokalemia

Advair Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol): 100/50, 250/50, 500/50. AirDuo Respiclick: 55/14, 113/14, 232/14. Serevent Diskus: 50 mcg/inhalation. Serevent MDI: 21 mcg/inhalation.
